Study: Light-dependent gene expression in non-phototrophic bacteria

It has been widely observed that some bacteria produce a pigment under illuminated condition, but the mechanism of light-induced gene expression has not yet been fully understood. The advancement of whole genome sequencing has revealed the occurrence of multiple types of photo-responsive transcriptional regulators. This project aims at identifying genes whose expression occur in a light-dependent manner in non-photrophic bacteria.
